Hi- new to this group- my ferret Shady had a swollen vulva earlier this year. I brought her to a local vet who thought it was an incomplete spaying. They did surgery & removed a tiny piece of ovarian material that they found up near her rib cage. As far as I know it was not biopsied. He said there was no sign of adrenal disease (I don't know how much he really knows about it). The swelling didn't go down for several months so I brought her to a different vet who didn't really know what the problem could be other than still ovarian remains or adrenal. He simulated mating in her, thinking that if it were ovarian remains, the swelling would go down. Swelling started to go down after 1 week & is almost back to normal size now.
Just had her tested with Tennessee Panel & it is coming back that there are "signs of adrenal disease". She is scheduled for adrenal/exploratory surgery next week- but would love others input on this situation. Hate for her to have to have surgery again so soon. Thanks!
