I have had two ferrets with that on occasion. One came in with that, from
not so great circumstances and over time, better diet, and bathing it went
away. The other, has questionable past breeding history. I think he gets this
occasionally not from lack of bathing or poor diet now (obviously), but
because he was just born with oilier skin. I think most of the time those flecks
you are seeing are from oil secretions from glands in the skin. That's all.
Some ferrets have it more than others. Some you just can't see that they have
it because they are dark.
I'm not a health expert at all, and this might be from something else
that you should check out (as you are doing by asking the list for help). But I
do know that one possibility might be because of oil secretion.
