I agree get rid of the kiten food. Stick with the higher quality ferret
foods. There is anectdodal evidence that Pepcid is a poor choice with
kidneys in humans and I had a cat on it that improved some when we changed
it, you might consider a switch to tagamet or prilosec. I think he might
need a bit more fluids to flush his kidneys and reduce the toxins in his
blood stream. I would also recheck his electrolytes because Addison's can
cause kidney disease and improves when treated, I know he is on Florinef
already but be sure it is the right dose still. Lastly another cause could
be a pyelonephritis and have a significant infection so please be sure this
has been ruled out. These can be nasty and sometimes req antibiotics for a
month or so. Lastly I have seen it in cat and don't know if there are
standard number in the ferret but renal hypertension can make the kidneys
worse and there are meds that can help improve flow thru the kidney and
decrease your values. Anyway these are just suggestions for various avenues
to investigate and with the splenomegaly I would definitely try to rule out
infection. GOOD LUCK! and I hope this provides some useful info.
