I have a friend whose ferret has had the same diagnosis and options
given...since before Easter. He wasn't supposed to live more than a couple
weeks. Stan has gained weight and energy with iron supplements, chicken
gravy that is hand fed, and lots of love. He isn't in pain and is happy.
So, this, too, is an option to try

The vet just called with the blood work results. His liver values are way
up, and his red cell count is very low. He is severely anemic. My options
are:
Blood transfusion
Treat with hydration, antibiotics, carafate
Have him put to sleep.
