The gall bladder is just that: a bladder, in this case one which holds bile secreted by the liver and is nestled right along the liver. Bile, which emulsifies fats and stimulates intestinal motility (Now you know why some people can stop having gall bladder attacks by eating a low fat diet.) is also the product which contains the yellow pigmentation in bilirubin which gives the color to jaundice. Jaundice can happen with liver disease but also can happen if the flow of the bile is obstructed.
