I am glad to learn that Kodo is doing so well, but it is really sad
about Pertwee.

We've taken to being more careful about pre-op testing even on ferrets
who look okay and are fine on general examination. For example, by all
outward appearances Ashling looks like someone who would be a good
surgical candidate, but her CBC with Chem Panel numbers say "no" so we
are flying by the numbers for her.

I am sure that even then there can be things which are hidden or there
can be unpleasant surprises, in fact, I know there can be since we've
encountered some ferrets with surprises like Shgerman who was just
lucky that his surgery was timed when it was because he had a hidden
congenital vascular malformation which could have blown that was
corrected, but each of us is only human and can only try to do the
best. We aren't perfect: ask any ferret. All that we can do is to
try. Don't beat yourself up about not knowing what could not be known.
As far as your other questions are concerned I don't know the answers.
