Thorough bloodwork was done and was all blissfully normal. He had regular
bloodwork anyway since he was without either adrenal gland and it's just
plain a good idea to periodically check electrolytes. We did adjust his
meds now and then as his body weight changed to keep his electrolytes in
balance over the years. So far as I know there was of sign of liver disease
in his bloodwork.
The whole vet visit was because our oh-so-hyperactive little monster had
taken one of his fearless flying leaps, landed badly (which he rarely did),
and broken a canine tooth. Keith and I felt horrible because we thought we
had killed him over a tooth. We now know that wasn't the case and his days
were numbered regardless. My point, of course, is that he was incredibly
active right to the last, even at the vet's office that day. There was no
sign at all. I think that's why I'm so frustrated and looking for clues.
It was such a shock to lose him this way.
Besides, isn't the point of the necropsy to try and learn what happened and
help other ferrets if at all possible?
All the best,
Caity
