Thank you, I am using the diluted NPH insulin. What happens when I go up in small increases, he is pretty good for a few days, then spikes back up again. It may have to do when I check him in relation to when he ate though. This morning he was 125 after giving him 0.6units last pm, so I don't want to go to 2 units at this time, but my vet is checking him weekly and I have a log of all the blood sugar numbers. What I think may work is the every 8 hour dosing, although I really can't always be home from work in time., If anyone has any experience with ultralente, or PZI I would appreciate that input as well. Thank you again, Patty

I feel food is very important! While Oscar was on the Chicken Gravy, his bg was in the <300 range on the 1.0 unit dose of insulin, but once he started eating kibble again, it jumped to 446 in just one reading. Looking back, that is when we started to increase his insulin until it reached the 3.5 units in one dose and we went to the 8 hour dosing.

Julie
