Try using a vaporizor or the bathoom and give a mini steam bath? this can
help open the airways a bit. The older guy is going to be harder to get
thru this so if he has been on the amoxi a while consider a change to
clavamox. Another thing you can do is use antiinflammatory ophthalmic drops
in the nose, or pick up some Nose relief drops whch are a homeopathic prep
that often works. I know some vets may not agree with me but I will
sometimes add pred for a bit, for couple of reasons It has antiinflammatory
effects, can bring the fever down if there is one and may help improve the
appetitie and the blood glucose level. When they can't brath well they
can't eat well and their blood sugar can get low which makes them more
lethargic and in this case a red'd or elevated blood glucose level could
just be from stress and appetite changes not insulinoma or diabetes. Hope
this helps, but steam for 1/2 hour 2-4 times per day can help open his
airways. Good Luck.
