Hello everyone,
I'm new to the list and was looking for information on Tuberculosis in ferrets. My Angora ferret, Scooby, died about six weeks ago. My vet was teaching a class at a vet school in Virginia and asked if he could bring Scooby's body with him so the class could dissect him and do a full autopsy. Six weeks later, preliminary results are in. Scooby died from Lymphosarcoma -- but they found something else. He had Tuberculosis too. My vet has never heard of a ferret in this country having Tuberculosis (probably because most aren't autopsied) and we would like more information on the topic. I have three other ferrets at home and am wondering if they should be put on medication (or if there is a possibility that it could pass to humans, as well).
Can anyone help me out on this subject? Thanks very much.
Lisa
