I have been reading the healthlist archives for the last 3 hours trying to
find something about managing cardiomyopathy and kidney diease. I have not
succeeded. I wrote a couple of weeks ago about Sammy and his kidney diease. I
received several replies from this group on how to give additional support over
and above what the vet had us doing for him. Well, our last trip to the vet
(Tues. 11-11-03) was even worse than the previous 3 trips. Sammy now has a
diagnious of cardiomyopathy. He has a heart mummer (raging the vet said) He
coughs once in a while and has back leg weakness. Vet sent home enacard
(0.5ml/mg.) Vet said that the kidney diease was on the back burner now, because the
heart problem is worst. We can't use lacixes(sp) because of the kidney problem.
Poor Sammy is starting to balloon up in the middle. He has the shape of a
purple eggplant. I have started putting CoQ10 and Vit. E in his chicken gravy.
He is also bi-lateral Adrenal removed about 3.5 years ago, so he is taking
Pred and Florinef. I read in the archives that Pred. isn't good for the heart
patient. Does anyone, Suki, Dr. Williams or anyone else have any ideas of what
I might try to help Sammy. Our next appointment is Monday, 11-17-03. Thank
you in advance. I know someone out must of had this same problem.
