It sounds like you picked up something during the week or so before your shot or in the crowd getting shots since influenza shots are killed viruses (though, as we all learned recently from a member the nasal vaccine isn't a killed virus), or perhaps had an exposure to an influenza strain not in the shot.
Dehydration is a very real danger. Have you considered getting sub-cutaneous hydration or even IV for yout ferret?
I think my inclination if I were in your shoes -- since this is contagious if it is influenza especially if it s one not covered by the vaccine -- would be to call the vet hospital and ask for a call back from the vet. Then you can explain the situation in detail, answer questions, and find out what the vet wants to do.
