Hello, my female ferret Pinky has had her first litter 2 weeks ago. I was told that if you look at the babies the mother eats them. Does anyone know of this from experience? I looked in on them the day they were born ans then every second day after that and she hadn't eaten them due to this. I even had to separate Pinky from the babies for 15 minutes and she didn't harm them (or me). Also, she had 11 babies in the one litter (2 so far have died) but as I'm aware this is a fairly large litter. My brother's ferrets had 13 babies between two females. does anyone know of a ferret having a larger litter - what is average?
