I'm sorry to hear about the kit not making it. As for the deep sleep... yes, that's called the "dead ferret syndrome" though that's not an official name, just what a lot of people call it. As long as she finally awoke and appeared normal, that's probably all it was.
I'm sure that most of us has experienced this at one time or another. I've only seen it once many years ago and it scared the heck out of me.
