What you point out is part of why it makes sense to go with surgery rather than Lupron UNLESS the ferret is not safe as a surgical candidate.
The longer an adrenal growth remains the more chance there is of it to change in ways that make it malignant.
Besides, a growth might be maligant up-front and then prompt treatment can often enough save lives. Our Meltdown was like that; she had adenoma so in her case prompt surgery gave her another 3 and 1/2 years.
I am sorry that your little darling was not as fortunate.
