At 6 years old it can be a few things. At this age I usually
act a little quicker and get tests done just in case.
If she never had testing, even if not related to diarrhea
I would still get a Complete blood count, basic chemistry,
stool check for parasites, coccidia. I would also look
for signs of wasting, blood in stools, pawing at mouth, nausea,
etc.

OF all my ferrets with diarrhea: I had coccidia, diabetes, insulinoma,
renal failure, addisons crisis ( this one had both adrenals
out in surgery), ECE, Inflammatory bowel disease, and no
cause.

I am not saying diarrhea was a symptom of all of the above,
it may have been just coincidental, or a contributing factor to my ferret
showing more and more illness prompting me to get further
testing, either way I am glad I got the testing done.

I have a 6 year old female ferret. She has started having loose stools last week.
She is eating fine and up until today seemed to be normally energetic. Today
she is less energetic but still nearly normal. What are the possilbe causes of
diarrhea and what needs to be checked out. Her diet has not changed and as
far as I know she hasn't gotten into anything unusual. Any advice would be
appreciated.
