Okay, first off nothing is really diagnostic there yet. You could be seeing something as mild as drier skin due to winter heating.

How are you defining marking? It's not unusual for any ferrets to just leave urine or feces scent in places.

In this case if there is real concern but nothing is clear we'd do one of the following:

Wait a while and see if symptoms become clear.

Wait for a while to give it more time to be more established and then try the U of TN panel if you are still worried but there are no clear symptoms.

Sometimes when there are symptoms which are more likley to indicate adrenal neoplasia but it's still unclear if there is an adrenal growth we've tried Lupron to see if things improve with that, but what you are mentioning is just so nebulous at this point.

If it does turn out to be an adrenal growth then see if there is someone who is used to doing those surgeries. If not, then trust the vets' assumptions of their own limitations and go with the sorts of medical approaches which Dr. Jerry Murray has detailed. (Use subject lines like Lupron and put AFERRETVET in the "from" box in the FHL Archives at
