Hi all
I have four ferrets two girls and two boys. Two of them (the boys)are loos=
ing fur. One (Koda) had surgery for insulonmia (sorry can't spell)around 5 =
mo ago. his fur has not grown back except for a very narrow strip down his =
lower belly. The other (Taz) is thinning everywhere. We thought he was jus=
t loosing fur on his belly. beause he is overweight he gets pee on himself =
and spends a lot of time cleaning himself up so we thought his belly fur lo=
ss was from this and so did the vet. recently both ferrets have been loosin=
g fur around their necks and where front legs meet the body. both ferrets h=
ave had addrenals removed. so the vet doesn't think this is the reason. he =
also doesn't think their hair loss is related to each other. The vet think=
s the one that is overweight (Taz) is just loosing hair due to age. he is a=
round 7 (got from shelter so we are not sure of age.) The vet believes ther=
e is nothing we can do to help with hair loss for him The vet is trying out=
some meds on Koda for low thyroid he said it is a long shot and he is not =
sure it will help but said it coulnd't hurt him. so we are giving it a shot=
. Koda has been taking the thyroid meds for three weeks we have not see any=
change as of yet. any ideas would be helpful =

Thanks
Jen
