This is just so totally untrue. Pred promotes the breakdown of proteins, c=
ausing the liver to produce glucose. It also limits the utilization of glu=
cose by the cells in the body. Not a very scientific explanation, but accu=
rate enough to argue the point, I think.
Bottom line... If pred lowered glucose levels a LOT of ferrets on pred for =
hypoglycemia (mine for one) would be in very deep trouble right now and tha=
t is just not the case.
Sugars are sometimes given in later stages of insulinoma when nothing else =
will help raise glucose levels, but it doesn't seem like your ferret is at =
that stage yet.
