When a tumor invades an organ it is touching it could be either benign or malignant.

The reason most don't need the meds is because usually there is enough adrenal tissue left behind to produce the essential adrenal products. If both glands come out cleanly, or not enough tissue is left behind, or there is atrophy of what is left behind then the meds are needed life long and they thrive on them.

At this pont it sounds like your best idea of the prognosis is going to be from your vet when the biopsy results come back. Only your vet has a feel for how much the liver was invaded, what the Vena Cava looked like, etc. and the biopsy results are essential. It sounds like your vet is on the ball!

I am not a vet, and am always learning (like I did last night with than new info from Dr. Jerry Murray).
