I'm quite surprised by this. IME, and in talking to our vet, any ferret
that has both adrenal glands completely removed will need medication to
replace the adrenal products. In our two ferrets who were bilateral one was
on prednisone and flourinef (sp?) and the other was on dexamethasone instead
of prednisone because he did not respond to pred. Until the electrolytes
were in balance (after we got the med doses right) the suffered from
Addison's Disease symptoms and were miserable. Once the electrolytes were
in balance they quickly felt better.
