Hi Lisa, I think my preference of plain (Albino, Sandy or Polecat)
coloured ferrets means I do not see the health problems bred into some
ferret bloodlines. These days I certainly do not expect to see problems
before 7 or 8. Luckily in my area of the UK there are up to 50 unrelated
bloodlines to pick an out cross from. I've never deliberately inter or
line bred any of my ferrets and pregnant/lactating mothers and kits are
never fed kibble as a main part of there diet. In fact I would never fed
kibble at all if I could rely on my sources of whole carcase. I believe
unsuitable diet and housing are a contributing factor in the early onset
of some problems. Chris.
