If one factor is the melatonin output as is hypothesized then, yes, it would. Even far dimmer levels of light than what a 40 watt bulb puts out decrease melatonin output. This is why when darkness is discussed people tend to note "complete darkness" or "true darkness" (same thing) and to point out that even the little green lights on some appliances could be a possible problem. Hense, bedding cloth which gets dark, sleeping boxes or tentsw with that bedding, cage covers, etc.
