our little fuzzies always drink the Christmas tree water. We have tried all kinds of things to keep them out of it but none have ever worked for more than an hour. We have never had any bad effects from them drinking the water (we don't put anything in it) except sticky baby faces and a few slightly torn packages they were standing on. On the bright side they a look really cute doing it and the smell great!
