The original antibiotic could cause diarrhea and vomiting, but should not
continue for long after you take them off. Try some Pepto (I use the
unflavored tabs, crush them and dilute then so they don't have to taste that
awful mint and so you can give less of it. Be sure to keep his blood sugar
up if he doesn't or can't eat, you can use Kayro (corn syrup) but encourage
him to eat. he probably could use some fluids so when you can get him to the
vet. There are concerns that it could be something more serious at this age
that you won't get him thru but you still need to try. I would suggest
hospitalization for a few days of stabilization. It could even be a foreign
body but that would only cause the fever if there was damage to the tract
and you get bacterial leakage. Stabilize and maybe get x rays done. You
could even have a barium done but more for theraputic effects then for the
diagnostic purpose, because this coats the entire tract top to bottom and
oftem makes them feel better. If needed once he is stabilized they can see
if anything else is going on. Good Lick to you and your little one.

With her carcinoma Ashling has lost huge amounts of muscle mass, but
she has now figured out a new technique with her rear legs used kind of
like simultaneous pogosticks which allows her to once again break into
a full run speed (though not as fast as her past lean-into-corners
sprint speed). She's had the loss long enough that she has come up with
her own solution. You should have seen and heard her today -- laughing
heh-heh-heh as she actually ran to stash a cranberry. There is a whole
lot to be said for doing everything possible for giving them as much
quality of life as possible when they are ill. So far she doesn't need
pain meds and her touch of Lasix (only 1/2 mg 3x per day) is enough
that she doesn't even do any fussing if held on her back now. Her only
complaining is for meds but she gets a treat before and a babyfood and
heated water soup afterwards so she winds up completely happy again
after just a short while of drinking her soup.
