It depends on what kind of chocholate and how much they eat. Dark chocolate
is the worst, whicte chocolate not a problem. If you are uncertain on amt
and know when they ate it you can induce vomitng with hydrogen peroxide, see
if you see the color of chocolate come up, if so keep doing it until it is
chocolate free. Then wait abit and feed brad or something bulky to help move
the rest thru, but contack your vet too. Remember, ferrets are quite small
so it takes far less chocolate to cause toxicity then a dog or a cat. I
know this is too late for this scenario but all the replys you rec'd did not
mentions some of the most important points.

My ferrets have gotten into chocolate more times than I wish to remember.
One year my husband bought me a huge box of chocolates for Valentines day.
it was my first year with ferrets. I woke up in the morning and every
single chocolate was gone! I was irate because they were really good!
Anyway, I later looked behind the entertainment center to find the ferrets
and found a huge pile of chocolates! The little devils stashed them.

Fortunately the worst that happened was that both ferrets got diarrhea and
I had very messy rugs.
