Each vet and vet tech involved who have come here have been reading the reading the past reports and building on the knowledge gleaned by the ones before so these ferrets are often doing better for longer. My personal hopes are that this will be ultimately successful.
Having been through these symptoms with Chiclet, Steve and I are very glad that we pulled out all stops for her because she so much wanted to live till the very end when she gave up and we found it had gone to her heart and so badly damaged her liver. To this day we all (vet, Steve and me) think that if we'd somehow been able to destroy the infection responsible for her sepsis and cellulitis before it went to her heart that she'd have made it.
On the other hand, Steve and I know how devastating the infection Chiclet had was, so if your little one gives up and you go with a mercy shot we are in complete sympathy with you. So often it seemed that all that kept Chiclet together was her love of life. This is the sort of call which only the people right there who know the individual and the situation can make.
