Subject: intermittent diarrhea/loose stool

For the past week to week and 1/2 I have noticed my two ferrets have intermittent bouts of diarrhea or loose slimey stools, and sometimes more firm, and sometimes firm but with a tint of green. They also firm back up for 1 or 2 days then it seems to start again. The one is active, the other one never seemed to be over active and prefers to eat and sleep. I took two stool samples in 1 week ago to the local vet and they ran flotations fecals (for intestinal worms) which came back negative. My question is, should they be running some other type of test on their stool, or what other types of test should I be asking the vet to run to see what might be their problem? I have not changed their diet. They get dry totally ferret for older ferrets and about 1 teaspoon of baby strained chicken a day.
