I lost a ferret with absolutely no signs of a problems, to a gastric ulcer
hemorrhage that was secondary to a large fur ball.. This has made me more
concerned about the possibility, sometimes the only sign I see for a long
time is weight loss.
Diets: I like the IVD line of diets. You can ask about the Select Care
Neutral which only comes in dry which is specific for IBD in cats and the
palatability is good. I am not sure of the ingredients since I am out of
the office at the moment. IVD also makes lines of food for allergies and
IBD that are ingredient specific, via venison, lamb, rabbit, or duck with
the carbohydrate being Green Peas which is a good soluble fiber source for
IBD. These come in canned and dry an palatability is variable. I start
with Rabbit since that is what ferrets were originally used to hunt in the
wild. Anyway, don't know if this will help or not but let us know what
happens.
