Subject: Juvenile Lymphoma--Bone Marrow?

Our 1 yr old Pumpkin has been suffering from high temp and lethargy for the last 10 days. The vet is recommending taking a bone marrow sample to check for JL because of the persistence of her fever despite Baytrin and Metacam for the last five days (prior to that she had a shot of penecillin and was on amoxi-drops for four days). However, the vet told us tonight that the bone marrow sample can't rule out JL, it can only positively diagnose it. With that said, is this worth doing? Is there a better way to diagnose JL?

At this point, Pumpkin has a white blood cell count of 14,000 and a clear chest x-ray. She is limping on one paw, but it is the paw her IV was in while she was hospitalized. During her last physical exam last Friday, she had no swollen lymph nodes. Any thoughts or experiences would be very much appreciated.
