I have a 7 yr old female that in the last 2 days has had a behavior change.=
She is "stalking" the whole family. She follows everyone around begging =
to be picked up and then she licks us constantly. She will not sleep in he=
r cage (she bites it and looks agitated) for more than a few hours and only=
rests when we hold her. She is eating fine and her glucose is running int=
o the 90's yesterday and this morning is was 52. Normal has been in the 6=
0's the last month. Her history is left adrenal removed 3 years ago and tak=
es lupron. We just did the test from TN and it was normal for the estriadi=
ol but elevated on the other 2. She had insulinoma surgery almost 2 yrs ag=
o and became a diabetic for 1 year. My vet did an insulin test and it was =
elevated and shows that the cancer is back. She also has cardiomyopathy an=
d takes Benazpril and sprionolactone. We increased them this week and put =
her on clindamyacin for and infection. My question is has anyone ever expe=
rienced an over affectionate ferret when the end is near? I can handle the=
affection but it is hard that she is not sleeping and wants to be held 24-=
7. She does not seem to be in any pain except when she urinates(she has a=
n enlarged spleen that sort of fold around her intestines). What are the s=
igns of agitation and senility. I wonder if the cancer has spread to her b=
rain.
Thanks for any info, Dawn
