My name is Angela I'm an PreVet student at Rutgers University, work at a V=
et hospital and am recently a new ferret owner. Last week I had a pretty b=
ad cold and on Wednesday of this week my ferret had diarrhea all over his c=
age when I came back from work at 6:30. I had worked all day so he was de=
hydrated and legthargic. I stayed up and syringe fed him water a little ga=
torade and baby food (chicken/turkey and rice) in 5 hr intervals. The diar=
rhea did not stop so he went to the Vet I work for on Friday because there =
are no office hrs on Thurs. Houdini is taking Amoforol (.5 cc 3x daily)fo=
r the diarrhea as well as Vitamins (dose=3D .5cc per 5lb he's getting .3cc =
because he's 1.8lb 2x daily) which are similar to Hi Vite because his mucus=
membranes are pale. Since Wed he is eating well and drinking in his own bu=
t I do syringe feed him as well. We did a dipstick to check his urine for=
protein, it did come back +1 but that's not immensly high and the urine wa=
s the first of the day and well as 4 fecals through out his visits all of w=
hich are neg. He is itching rather more than normal and has been for a wee=
k or so. If he did not get better by Monday we were going to take blood w=
ith sedation, because we were unable to collect blood without. There is a =
local emergency group that will take blood from the atrium and does not hav=
e to sedate. What do you think about all this! I know it's a mouthfull b=
ut I would appreciate your input.

P.s. I have basically ruled out parasites fleas and an obstruction because =
he is forming normal stool with the help of Amoforol (the anti diarreahal m=
edicine)
