Subject: crystals in the urine

My 7 yo ferret was dx with insulinoma in June and was being treated for a UTI with amoxycillin. Thursday, I noticed quite a bit of blood in his urine so the vet put him on a stronger antibiotic (can't remember what at the moment). She said there were crystals in his urine, too. I switched them to Totally Ferret about 1 1/2 months ago from MF ferret food. While it has certainly decreased the odor in their cage, I'm wondering if switching the food is the cause of his problem.
Any comments?
