Update on Bebe =
Sat: Isolated Bebe when I noticed her grinding. Stool soft pumpkin color. N=
ot eating. Lying down a lot. Temp 101 and some.
Sun: Night, she had pumpkin colored stools with I thought blood in it. =
Mon: Left her at the vet. Her body temp seemed down. Meds for ulcer was ord=
ered. Sub Q fluids given. Picked her up and went to the Pharmacy to pick i=
t up. They didn't have it ready so I asked for them to be delivered that ni=
ght. Stools black.
Bebe took the water I offered from syringe. Was on my way to my part tim=
e job but couldn't go. Wanted to stay home and encourage her new desire to =
drink and force feed her. Ran around and got Pepto and baby food and pedial=
yte. She would look up but wasn't strong enough to move alot. =
The meds didn't come. =
Tues - Fed Bebe and left for work. Called the pharmacy and they hadn't even=
mixed up the compound! Thought that I had said that I would pick it up on =
Tues. They put it together and delivered it to my house. Returned home for =
lunch break. I got home around 12.30pm. Bebe had soiled on herself. She was=
cool. Gave her the med. Took her temp. 94.5. Panic. 15 mins later 94.0. Ca=
lled the doctor. Was told I could come in after 3.00. Didn=92t go back to w=
ork. Kept her warm as I could. She was barely moving. Took a little water b=
ut wouldn=92t open her mouth. Took her to the vet. While waiting in the roo=
m, I thought she made some small noise. Petted her and made the decision to=
put her down. The doctor came in. I told him she may be in pain and my dec=
ision. Meanwhile he listened to her heart. He didn=92t hear anything. She h=
ad died in those few minutes. =
My two female ferrets had adrenal surgery in Feb and May. Died in July and =
Aug. =
