Subject: Possible bladder stone?

Took my daughter's 3yo male ferret Nanook to the vets last night. He has been having frequent small pees, and is dribbling some urine. He is eating/drinking/playing fine. The vet is not terribly ferret knowledgable, although very willing to research and learn. He is concerned that it might be a bladder stone. We are taking Nanook in today for an x-ray. If it does show a bladder stone, are there any other courses of action besides surgery? If it does not show up on xray, what else could be causing these symptoms?
