Prostate enlargements secondary to adrenal disease is by far more common, but bladder stones can happen. We had two ferrets with those in 23 years, whereas we had 1/3 of our ferrets over-all with adrenal disease.

We have had two males through the years who blocked completely. One, Scooter, had adrenal disease as the cause and he had an emergency cysto to empty his bladder and then had emergency adrenal surgery. He had no symptoms till he had that big one. The other, Hilbert, was very recent and is well covered in the archives in
http://fhl.sonic-weasel.org
has bladder stones -- in his case more of a slush.

Yes, bladder stones show up on x-ray, and yes, they need to be gotten rid of and it is very important to collect the stones if possible and find out which type they are by sedning them on form pathology because what needs to be done afterward depends onthe type of stone.

This is a topic where the complete archives should be a HUGE help for you. I'd search under these words for optimal efficiency:

Propecia
Proscar
prostate
uroliths
dysuria
stones
and I also suggest searching on
Hilbert
to learn some useful techniques and where to get info on PUs if your ferret needs that (and you can find that also in the critical references of

Also, for an older than a year compilation all in one place dysuria is one of many useful topics covered in the 2 page list of Files in our website:
