Julie,
I am sorry to hear about Sidney. I may have missed something about your
ferret in past posts, how come she hasn't had surgery for this blockage? I
am not attacking you I am just thinking surgery would be what she needs. My
ferret, Bubbles, had a blocked duodenum (it was inflamed tissue not a foriegn
object) last summer and she was bloated like that, the gases built up in her
stomach, food was not able to pass through and she was in extreme pain. Gas is
very painful, especially when there is no way to release it. I was giving
Bubbles gas medicine for infants with colic and it did release some gas but not
enough (this was before we knew it was a blockage). Bubbles went through
exploratory and that is when the real problem was found and repaired. She came
through with flying colors and I felt so bad that she suffered with the
bloating. She was in such pain that she would grind her teeth. Sadly we lost
Bubbles back in March from cancer (not related to last summers ordeal). I do hope
that your ferret can be helped in some way.
