Hello,

I was just wondering if someone can helo me with this..
recently my almost 1 yr old albino ferret was quite itchy and acting odd and I went through several vets before I could find one I thought was trustworthy and knowledgeable enough...
I had her do a cbc (for isulinoma) which was fine, and I also had her do the Tennessee Panel for a poss. adrenal prob because I wanted to know for sure that that could be ruled out. She didn't want ot do it at first since he was "so young" and it seemed odd that he would have adrenal problems.

Well my vet called about 2 wks later, saying that his estradiol levels were high (about 280 I think?) which was "odd since he is not a female" is how she put it...

She said he was too young to have surgery done, she wouldn't do it (which makes nooo sense)... she said maybe a shot of Lupron once a year during breeding season would help with his syptoms and for any future probs with his adrenal glands.

Now I am not a vet, but I have like a zillion questions to her approach on this, esp after reading so many other posts from other ferret owners going thru the same thing.

Should I fond out the results for the other hormones?
What is anyone else's take on this, please help me because I do not know where to start. I am thinking I should start with a new vet...
