Hi Teresa,
Estradiol will be elevated in 50-55% of ferrets with
adrenal gland disease. This includes both males and
females! Thus your young guy has adrenal gland disease.
Now it is time to decide how to treat him: surgically or
medically. In a young healthy ferret, surgery is the first option!
If only one adrenal gland is removed, then you may want to
use Lupron to treat/prevent the same problem in the remaining
gland.
