Two of my 5 fuzzy's came down with green slimy poop, very lethargic & off their feed. Immediately got them in to see the doc. She put them on Amoxi-drops twice a day, Metronidazole once a day & .4ml of Pepto-Bismol twice a day, not to coincide the Amoxi with the pepto. All well and good until I tried to administer the Metronidazole.
How in the hell am I supposed to give this stuff? According to what I read it is nasty to give and "may cause dryness of the mouth, an unpleasant or sharp metallic taste, and a change in taste sensation". If my fuzzy was eating regularly before I give them the stuff they won't for sure after!
Aren't Amoxil & Metronidazole both antibiotics? Have attempted two doses with out success & ,in my humble opinion, way too much stress on an already infirm ferret.
I am able to get them to accept some dry kibble now, had been having to use duck soup/dropper method. Both are drinking water with out problems & poops are firming up & returning to normal coloration. Still not as "happy~skippy" as normal.
Other 3 are active, eating & defecating as normal.
Advice?
