Hi,
Metranidazole is nasty tasting but it works incredibly
well. It's fixed up tummy trouble in most of my
ferrets at one point or another in their lives. Don't
hesitate to give it to your little weasels.
How do I get them to take it? With difficulty, of
course, but what works best for me is to draw some
Ferretone or Linatone up in the syringe before and
after the nastiness. I also have some nice, warm Bob
Church's Chicken Gravy at the ready. I give them the
Ferretone/flagyl mix and the little weasels cough,
sputter, foam at the mouth, and act like you just
tried to kill them. Then they realize there's gravy
waiting and that seems to be the cure. They love
their gravy and can't be bothered to act like you're
torturing them any more.
As always, YMMV...
All the best,
Caity and the fearsome foursome, including Lady Ayeka,
our most recent metranidazole "victim"
