Could you call your vet's service and
1. find out who is filling in for your vet (Sometimes provisions are made for accessing past records but even if they aren't you will find who your vet has trusted to fill the gap.), and
2. also ask if any of the techs there pet sit because that would allow for rapid response if needed, and
3. ask what they want and also find what the covering vet wants in a "Permission to Treat" letter. We always leave such letters both with our vets and our sitters if we have to be away because then care can be provided without question. That way no matter who is pet sitting, the person can get care for your ferret.

It does sound to me like this ferret needs some hands-on examining and testing now.
