Yes, Regina, I recall that you were among those who let me know of a normal lived one (7 to 8 years known age -- not estimate) with neural crest markings, so that would be Amelia.

I stopped keeping the records some time ago because it was not a scientific survey, just trying to get a handle on what people reported form their experiences.

One other person (I don't know if I can say who publicly so I won't) told me that she observed that the blazes and pandas who cropped up from asymptomatic parents in the ferrets she had bred tended to have more normal life spans, whereas on the other end of the spectrum the ones with those markings who arose from two parents who had clear panda or blaze markings tended to have shorter life spans. She wondered if a double dose of the genetics at any given locus (genetic location, singular) is more risky than a single one, and also -- because there can be variants at multiple loci (genetic locations, plural) which can cause neural crest markings -- she wondered if individuals with multiple causes for the markings might have reduced health. Anyway, I found those very astute questions (which is pretty well in character for her), and I'd sure love it if this is at sometime truly studied.
