My 4.5 year old ferret Coco, has been coughing for the past month. When it =
first started we had her on Clavamox for 10 days. She was still coughing. I=
took her back to the vet who took x-rays to check her heart. The x-rays sh=
owed her heart looked fine. Her stomach was distended and since I didnt see=
her eat that morning, my vet suspected a partial blockage. We fasted her f=
or 8 hours and took the x-rays again. Her stomach showed no blockage. The v=
et said he could see a couple of spots on her lungs with the second x-ray a=
nd prescribed her torbegesic and cefa-drops twice a day for 10 days. She is=
still coughing. I havent changed anything in their room. She is eating and=
maintaining her weight and is acting pretty much normal. Her cough is very=
dry sounding, almost like a honk. She mainly does it during the night or e=
arly in the morning. What could be causing it? Is there another test or x-r=
ay that should be done? She is not sneezing or wheezing at all. If this is =
a case of pneumonia does it usually take this long to get rid of it? Is the=
re a better antibiotic I should have her on? Any help would be greatly appr=
eciated.
