Hi all
I have yet another question about Koda. Koda has had three surgeries for =
Adrenal tumors. One surgery for insulinoma. (Which turned into two surgeri=
es because he tore his stiches out). I have a question about how many surg=
eries a ferret can have in the abdominal area. I was wondering if there is=
a limit to how many times a ferret can be cut open in the same area? The =
reason for my question is I believe Koda is suffering from adrenal tumors a=
gain. I want to have our vet go in and see if he can find any adrenal tumo=
rs. I have not had a chance to ask him about the amount of surgeries he ha=
s had. I have also talked to the vet off an on about Koda needing another =
surgery for his adrenal symptoms. The last time we talked (about 6 mo ago)=
he believed he would not be able to see any tumors he wanted to wait awhil=
e longer. Koda at this point has very little hair on his body. His tale is=
always very cold to the touch. He also has a hard time going potty. The ve=
t has him on some meds that are normally given to cats to help contract his=
bladder. (sorry I don=92t have the name of it with me) The vet and I disa=
gree on what is making it difficult for Koda to potty. The vet believes it=
is from Koda letting his bladder get over extended which makes it hard for=
him to express. I believe it has something to do with adrenal tumors such=
as an enlarged prostate. The last time when I had Koda in, the vet took x=
-rays. He told us he didn=92t see any evidence of an enlarged prostate so =
he chose to put Koda on meds. So if anyone has any ideas I would love to h=
ear them Can Koda have another surgery? Is the vet right it may be a waste =
of time and money to look for any adrenal tumors? oh buy the way Koda seems=
to be doing fine with his insulinoma he takes .5 of pred every morning. i=
t seems to keep his symptoms under control.
Thank you all you are always such a big help
Jenn
