Roaning is a coat lightening that happens later in life and is not present from the start.
By spotting I meant white spots that are always there.
(Though there is a completely different neural crest genetic variant called Leopard which causes dark spots and dark raised skin patches I have not heard of this or anything that sounds like it in ferrets, though others who see more ferrets (like on the show circuit) would know better.)
