Subject: Lay Ayeka's pathology report

Hi, everyone,
Well... yesterday our vet called with Lady Ayeka's
results of her pathology report and the previous day's
blood work. It showed an adrenal carcinoma (no
surprise there), islet cell tumors in the mass removed
from the pancreas (no surprise again, and significant
infiltration of lymphocytes in the adrenal gland,
pancreas, and stomach. That last part is the bad
news: almost certainly lymphosarcoma. Grrr...
We started Ayeka on .25ml daily of pediapred (1mg/ml
concentration). If that plus a half teaspoon of
yogurt twice a day doesn't help her diarrhea we'll
increase the pred.
We've caught this early so hopefully we can keep her
going and happy for a good while yet. She certainly
doesn't know anything is wrong.
Oh, BTW, her blood glucose is a blissfully normal
97.9.
Keith is already talking about a kit to be a long term
playmate for Chin Soon. I think he's more than a bit
burned out from all the health problems and deaths
among our older ferrets.
