Subject: Pain medication Options for ferrets after surgery
Message-ID: <3845656.1094134555620.JavaMail.root@thallium.smartgroups.com>

Hi all!
Could anyone who has experience with pain medications like opiods or NSAIDS and prescribing to ferrets for surgery or even chronic pain let me know what your prefer and what your experiences have been. I would like to know for future reference as I took my ferret in for an adrenalectomy recently and no pain meds were given. I'm of the belief that animals do a great job of masking pain due to their survival of the fittest instincts and would prefer to have my ferret on at least a little something. I'm most interested in NSAIDS due to their length of pain relief, anti-inflammatory properties and non-sedative nature.
I tried to do a search, but didn't find very much and also because this topic is always growing in the drugs offered on the market I thought I would try to get more up to date information. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
