NY state is a big area, there are vet lists of recommended vets or if you want specific
reference from someone here- provide more info on location/area - willingness to
travel,etc.

I understand vet care is expensive, but sometimes our pets get ill or injured and we
just have to make it work, and some things just can't wait days to be checked out or
they get worse costing many more dollars in the long run.

It sounds like your friend's ferret has hind end weakness, but this can be from
several causes- from spinal problem, back injury, weakness from medical illness .
The medical problems can be insulinoma, lymphoma, Aleutian disease virus and so
on- some will vary depending on age and history.

The best next step is a vet visit , your friend can go to a vet he/she has a history
with and can ask about payments. Can go with a budget in mind and let the vet
know, so the testing can be prioritized. IF there is something obvious on exam,-
perhaps that will give the clue to the diagnosis, making the testing more focused
and maybe keep the costs down.

However, at this stage, a least blood test and xrays may be needed.

Hi Everyone. My friend's ferret has been having problem with his feet. For 4 days,
both of his feet went limp (numb?)... SO, he has been crawling with his hands (front
legs).

Any advice of what we can do, or suggestions where we can take the ferret for
check-up for a very low cost in New York area?

Thank you!
