This is somewhat off-topic as the drug was never approved for use in ferrets,
but I know that it has been used in them, and the controversy has been
discussed on this list before. For those who haven't heard yet, Proheart-6
(moxidectin) was recalled by the FDA yesterday after thousands of reactions were
reported.
[Moderator's Note: Please, note that the reported reactions were in dogs and due to
a manufacturing problem. I have found no notations of reactions in ferrets and it
appears to be a very valuable drug for treatment of heartworm in them, so hopefully
this is just the recall of a batch and not the end of this medication.]
